Dan's Guard Villagers Add-on 26.30+/26.11+/26.10+/26.0+

Villages will gain their own defenders who are ready to fight monsters and protect the local residents. Dan's Guard Villagers is a mod for Minecraft that adds armed guards and archers who will defend villages. They spawn in small groups depending on the size of the village and can even attack the player if they threaten the villagers.

You can also tame the defenders with Emeralds, turn unemployed villagers into Guards using weapons, or hire them with Badges.
