Minecraft 26.70.20 for Android

Developers have released a test version of Minecraft 26.70.20 for Android. The winter drop keeps growing: Jukeboxes can now play whole playlists from a chest, fragile Brittle Ice hides deep crevasses in Ice Caves, and the Nether gets an experiment that makes it feel closer to Java Edition.

Brittle Ice

A new fragile block. Properties:

• Starts cracking as soon as a player or mob steps on it
• Gives way completely after 3 cracks
• Never melts
• Appears naturally or when water flows next to Blue Ice
• Sheds tiny ice particles when it first cracks and when it shatters
• Sends out vibrations every time it cracks and when it finally breaks

Crevasses

A new terrain feature. Details:

• Winding, narrow cracks that cut through Ice Caves
• The opening is often hidden under a layer of Brittle Ice
• Some have a pool of water waiting at the bottom - some don't

Jukebox Playlists

Your own DJ set in Minecraft. How it works:

• Put a single Chest, Trapped Chest, or any Copper Chest right on top of a Jukebox
• Music Discs inside the chest turn into a playlist
• Discs play one after another in slot order, ignoring empty slots and other items
• After the last disc, the playlist starts over
• When a song ends, the Jukebox swaps the disc for the next one from the chest
• With no discs in the chest, the current disc simply repeats
• Ejecting a disc skips to the next track

Drop Improvements

Polished existing features. Main points:

• Ice Crystals now have their proper size
• Icicle bases look brighter and no longer flicker against the block beneath them
• Frostbites can pick up Spears, but don't use the charge attack
• Frostbites can walk over Brittle Ice without breaking it
• New sounds play when a Zombie turns into a Frostbite and back
• The Freezing effect tooltip no longer shows a rank or lists it as positive
• The Arrow of Freezing icon now matches the other tipped arrows

Experimental Features

New Nether experiment. Details:

• Added the Nether Spawning Rebalancing experiment
• Fewer mobs crowd the Nether
• Fortress spawning works more like in Java Edition

Changes

Made 9 changes. Main ones:

• Marketplace content can now be bought as a gift for friends
• Candles can be lit with an ignition item in the main hand while sneaking
• Structure Blocks got a Keep Structure Void option
• Block Light Quality now offers Low, Medium, High, and Ultra settings
• Hearts on the HUD flash three times when you take damage and twice when you heal
• Opening an .mcworld or .mcaddon file now imports it even if the game is already running
• Marketplace offers that don't work on your device stay visible, but can't be bought
• Realms Hub now links to Realms tutorials or shows a QR code to open them
• Generic closed captions were added for jumping and landing

Bug Fixes

Fixed 34 bugs. Details:

• Snow Layers now always fall onto snowloggable blocks
• Frosted Ice emits vibrations when cracking and breaking
• Tripwire Hooks make sounds again when triggered
• Empty Dispensers and Droppers once again play a sound when they fail to eject an item
• Named Sea Pickles and Candles keep their custom name after being placed
• Zombies, Husks, and Zombie Villagers no longer try to wear Wolf Armor, Horse Armor, or Nautilus Armor
• Unarmed Piglins and Piglin Brutes stay unarmed after becoming Zombified Piglins
• Skeletons no longer get new gear when turning into Strays
• Resizing the window on Windows no longer reloads every visible chunk
• Objects without PBR maps no longer look overly shiny in Ray Traced mode
• Opening an Abandoned Camp chest for the first time causes even less lag
• Recording video no longer freezes the screen for a moment
• Fixed several crashes, including one on PlayStation 5 with many textures loaded
• Downloaded Realms worlds keep the correct player permission level
• The Realm admin log no longer gets stuck loading when a profile fails to load
• Realms FAQ scrollbars update when sections are expanded
• Text-to-speech reads the time correctly on the Realms Timeline tab
• Screen narration reads slider values exactly as they are shown
• The "Chat instructions on join" setting works properly in single-player worlds
• The Social button on the main menu opens the Social Drawer with a single press
• The Social Drawer can be closed with the Y key, just as narration says
• The Minecraft logo appears at the right size on startup
• Status effect icons resize correctly in split-screen
• Profile images update when you change your character's look
• The Custom Skin button no longer disappears from time to time
• Japanese and Chinese text displays correctly on the "My Library" button on mobile
• Bopomofo characters use the same full-width spacing as Chinese text
• Fish, Elder Guardians, Tadpoles, Slimes, and the Creeper now have correct closed captions
• Comparators, Tripwires, Dispensers, and thrown items have the right captions too
• Fixed user interface bugs

Technical Changes

Added 45 technical changes for addon development and testing. Among them, the new /locate poi command helps find registered points of interest by type or tag.
